Male, 12 years old. He is in the second class of six grade, from Dongfang primary school. He is the classmate of Wuhui, and his good friend as well. He always has the electronic watch on his right wrist, and a bit fat. Dazhu likes snack, and always brings some new type snack to school. He doesn’t like sports, always slacks off with Wuhui during the sports lesson. Because of this, he was asked to do the clean up as the punishment by his teacher. He always comes out with some strange ideas. Although those ideas never worked, but he still thought all his ideas were perfect. Also, in spite of his appearance, he is an expert of china history. By the way, he loves Xiaoshan secretly.

Male, 12 years old. He is the chess champion of six grade from Dongfang primary school, Huang Doudou’s classmate. Nice looking, with long hair covers his ears, makes him a handsome boy. He is from the old and well-know family of playing chess, and his father and grandfather are both national player. He is proud of his complete knowledge of “Plum Blossom chess manual” from Qing dynasty. This manual makes his way of playing chess changeable and precise. He likes to read ancient books of chess, and his level is very close to the senior high school student.

Xiaoshan, the Guard:
Female, 12 years old. She is in six grade, the second class from Dongfang peimary school. She is Wuhui’s neighbor, and Huang Doudou’s classmate. Xiaoshan gives you a feeling like a nice girl, although with a pair of glasses, she appears very liveliness. As wuhui’s neighbor since childhood, she went to school with Wuhui together everyday. She knows Wuhui very well, includes all his habits. As she refused by Wuhui from time to time, she studies the different way to make the bread, and Dazhu will be her white mouse. Bur her works’ taste is very strange, and everyone afraid to try her “new product”. For example: spicy ones, hamburger ones… She always brings her new product to the school, and said to Wuhui: Wuhui, please try this LOVE bread I made for you. She will blush when shying.

Student of six grade from Dongfang primary school. She is the monitor of the class, with two pigtails, a gentle and cute girl. There are two noisy girls always beside her. She is very good at studying, and always be the first three numbers in the school. Her family is very rich. It is said that her father is the president of a famous toy company.

Laizhang is a short guy, with the hairstyle like a “water melon.” With a pair of glasses, he thought himself as the “FAMOUS DECTECTIVE CONAN.” He loves Doudou secretly, and his chess skill is good. Laizhang is a “fast thinking” player, always said that he would defeat the champion of six grade and be the number one in the school. He likes to laugh at people, but always be impatient when playing the chess. |

Ma Yiguang, the Pawn:
Ma Yiguang is the son of Matian, who is the president of Shen City Chess Association. Although he is from the old and well-known chess-play family, but his sills is in average level. He disagrees his father to use the unfair ways, and help him to achieve the champion. Ma Yiguang hope to prove himself with his own power.

The president of Shen City Chess Association, first level umpire. His skill is very good, and looks like a good man. But he is a nasty guy instead, and afraid of losing his face. As the president, he tried unfair way to help his son achieve the champion. People call him as: The Man clever than Zhuge (Zhuge is a famous general in ancient China).

People call him: Smiling Tiger. He has the mustache, and a naevus besides his nose. Fengyuan is the coach of national team, and level 1 player as well. When his opponent makes mistake, he will laugh nastily. |

He is Wuhui’s father, an engineer of IT industry. He always said: Only the education can bring the good future for child, and deeply against the Chinese tradition. |

Wuhui’s mother, a health food saleswoman. She has the habit to collect the bottles and other small stuffs, and piles them up in the house. Later on, she will persuade Wuhui’s father to let Wuhui play chess. |

Ouyang Shuping, the Horse:
He is 65 years old, the pre-president of Chess Association. He was persecuted by Matian, and finally left the association. Loves drink, people call him “Drunk Master”. He is the teacher who taught Wuhui to play chess.
